Mission Statement
The Acupuncture and Massage School of Oriental Medicine (AMOM) is established to trail-blaze new ways to educate, train, and graduate traditional healthcare professionals. Our curriculum and clinical experience are uniquely designed to promote the philosophy of medical pluralism, fostering cooperation between Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Oriental massage, and other medical models, while preserving the integrity of each through multidisciplinary education and open communication.
Statement of Purpose
The purpose of AMOM is to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to become competent practitioners of acupuncture, Oriental medicine, and Oriental massage, with the ability to participate as independent healthcare providers in a variety of settings. This will be achieved through classroom instruction, hands-on practice, clinical experience, research, and specialization opportunities.
Philosophy
The philosophy of AMOM is to unify the educational strengths of Eastern and Western medical traditions. We strive to help students understand the cultural heritage of Acupuncture, Oriental Medicine, and Oriental Massage while preparing them to integrate these practices into modern healthcare systems. AMOM transforms students into healers who treat the whole person as an energetic and physical system, promoting well-being by establishing balance and harmony in body, mind, and spirit.
Vision
To be meaningful, medicine must be relevant and inclusive. AMOM embraces Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion while addressing healthcare inequities by providing safe, effective, natural, and affordable medicine for all. Our vision includes preparing students to meet the future of healthcare by advancing clinic-based training, community outreach, and integrated education, and by delivering accessible programs to those seeking professional training in the healing arts.
